This session aims to raise awareness of the key oral health messages:

  • Brush teeth for 2 minutes, twice a day. Spit don’t rinse.
  • Eat a healthy balance diet. Limit sugary food and drink to mealtimes only.
  • Visit the dentist regularly.
  • Tobacco and alcohol use increases your risk of mouth cancer.

Empower staff to impart oral health information to service users

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • List the key oral heath messages.
  • Recognise the importance of oral health within their role.

Teaching & Learning Strategy:
This is an interactive session to enthuse participants with oral health.
Participants will leave the session with the knowledge and understanding of oral health and the ability and drive to incorporate this in to their role.

Target Audience:

  • Suitable for everyone and mandatory prior to attending an oral health Level 2 course.
  • Essential for all staff within residential homes.

Refresher requirements:
Every 2 years
