Toothbrushing should be supervised by an adult – at least up to the child's 7th birthday. Encourage the child to brush their own teeth but an adult may need to finish off the job to ensure it has been an effective brush.

Your child may all of a sudden decide they don't like toothbrushing and become very difficult and distressed. This is completely normal – and just another 'stage'. Try to keep toothbrushing as stress free as possible. The earlier you instil this routine – the more likely it will remain an easy job!
