25 Schools toothbrushing onsite!

The Brushing Buddies scheme is being introduced to 25 City primary schools in 2015/2016 by the local Tooth Fairies (Oral Health Promotion Team).

Brushing Buddies is an innovative supervised toothbrushing programme that can be adapted to address the unique issues associated with each school and develop an exclusive and flexible toothbrushing programme for their children. Brushing Buddies aims to empower schools with the knowledge and resources to help work with children and their families to improve their oral health but also to create long term, happy, healthy smiles!

The recent media event at Brocklewood Primary was a great success. This was an opportunity to showcase the wonderful work that is going on in our local Brushing Buddies schools. Councillor Norris opened the event with some inspiring words, followed by our local Tooth Fairies Julia Wilkinson and Justine Halls. Reporters from Gem FM and BBC East Midlands joined the audience alongside colleagues from local schools, Nottinghamshire Healthcare, Nottingham City Council, Nottingham Citycare and Public Health England.

Julia Wilkinson, Head of Oral Health Promotion at County Health Partnerships, part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare said:

“Brushing Buddies is an innovative supervised toothbrushing programme especially designed for our diverse array of local primary schools. We hope that working together we can really make a difference to the super smiles of our children.”
